Our school, Skyline Combined School is situated km 18, West of Johannesburg in Roodepoort CBD. The school is situated in middle to upper class area, with feeder areas such as Horizon, Westgate, Florida and Johannesburg in the heart of Roodepoort.
Currently we do not have a feeder area directly surrounding the school. More than 80% of our learners travel from Braamfischerville, Matholesville, Roodepoort, Princess, RBA and Tshepisong and a small percentage come from Protea, Florida and Davidsonville.
The medium of instruction in our school is English, with Afrikaans, Setswana and Zulu as either First or Second Additional Languages. Because learners are struggling with comprehension, all grades are put on compulsory reading and spelling programmes to help remedy the imbalances encountered by the educators.
The school opened its doors in 2014 after being registered with the Department of Education as Skyline High School with grade 8 and 9. We enrolled 42 learners for the 2014 academic year with 7 educators. By the end of 2015, we had expanded the scope and allowed to run both the Primary and secondary sections. The School is growing, continually striving to create and uphold certain expected traditions. Learners work together with the educators to create an educated and meaningful future. Our school culture encourages a spirit of enquiry, creativity and involvement.
